“After my awakening, I have spent the past four years questioning my beliefs and seeing through my conditioned behaviors. It’s changed my life quite radically for the better but also in some ways I feel like things were much easier before when I still held onto such beliefs. Awakening is not an easy road. It is not for the faint of heart. And there is no guarantee you won’t live in a state of struggle as a result of it.
Spiritual teachers often speak about the importance of questioning beliefs and releasing layers of conditioning. But very few provide an understanding as to how those beliefs and conditioning contribute to our lives in positive ways. There is this misconception that beliefs are fundamentally harmful. That conditioned behaviors, whose roots we are unaware of, cause us to suffer. This could not be further from the truth.
