This is a pointer I needed. I’ve been channel surfing a lot. There has been a lot of conflict between the remotes and yes, there was definitely a hierarchy. That the stillness or live picture content was the superior form of content.

Question to myself - what makes me believe in this hierarchy of content? From where does this come from? What makes me believe it? Is it true? Until I believe not, I’ll act like it is.

Intuitively the art of channel surfing makes sense! After all, what’s more real than what’s happening right now?? What’s real is what’s arising now. Be it narrative, practical, life content, or static content.

Beautiful pointer mi sire. Thank you!

Incredible as always. I’ve given all four remote controls to god.

The art of touch, the here and now the only point of contact, the only reality we have. Such a beautiful question! With such a clear response where I can check moment to moment: “From what do you derive your sense of reality?”

It IS an art. And that is our freedom, it seems, our nature to live this, to not get stuck. To live our lives on the still point of the touch from which and as which movies can unfold in any direction (content).

It seems, we never know for certain about it. Wow. So then, to live from experiment to experiment, touch and touch. The way I think, feel , and act becomes an art form, now, still point that moves freely.

Thank you Shiv and and the question(er)!

Shiv, your brilliant metaphor of "channel surfing" reminds me of the vile Steve Bannon strategy of sowing confusion by "flood the zone with shit." We also have to be aware that it is not only ourselves with a 'remote control' but others as well. "Pushing our buttons" is just another form of remote control.

While the 'content' is fluid, I am assuming there is 'viewer' or 'witness' that provides some sort of stable focus. Through spiritual practices, we can become more aware of our witness core aspect, but, yes, it can be overwhelmed by the Steve Bannons of the world. What are your thoughts?

Dear Shiv,

Great piece as always!

Love this phrasing: "the screen is undefinable by any of the content that appears upon it."

And I love this answer to “What is the art of channel surfing?”:

"The art is not to become stuck on any channel long enough to believe it to be true."

Thank you for sharing!

Love

Myq
